This is ENA 400, the very car piloted by Miss Violet Midge Wilby in the 1938 Rallye de Monte Carlo, starting from John OGroats under racing number 77. Her co-driver for the event is believed to have been Miss Joan Brotchie.
Midge Wilby was a true pioneer in pre-war rallying. She first competed in the 1932 RAC Rally in a Wolseley Hornet, and went on to race in the Scottish Rally that same year. Her remarkable achievements included a 6th place finish in the 1937 Monte Carlo Rallye Coupe des Dames, after which she became deeply involved with Atalanta Motors as patron, company director, and works driver. In 1939, she successfully campaigned an Atalanta in the Scottish Rally.
ENA 400s competition pedigree doesnt end there. The car is also documented in W. Boddys Continental Sports Car Book, where it is recorded as competing in the Pre-War Welsh Rally from London circa 1950, among other events.
This is a documented, historically important pre-war rally car with significant provenance, offering collectors and enthusiasts alike the chance to preserve and showcase a true gem of British motoring and rallying heritage.
