Spanner can help turn your car details into an advert.
Could suit you if…
- You have convenient, regular charging at home, work or nearby: an electric car could fit your day-to-day routine.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You often travel far with little time to stop: check the battery's condition, realistic winter range and charging speed for this exact version.
- You are buying your first car or have a tight insurance budget: Spanner flags a higher insurance band. Get your own quote before paying a deposit.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The Seal is a bona fide EV with a single-speed automatic drive and BYD's LFP 'Blade' battery chemistry on many trims — that battery is durable but battery capacity and charging speed differ between versions, so confirm which pack this car has. It uses CCS rapid charging; dealer network in Ireland is growing but still smaller than legacy brands, so check software/firmware update history and where you'll go for servicing.
- Battery state-of-health report (capacity % and degradation) and any warranty transfers
- CCS charging port condition and a quick charge test / charging-session log if available
- Software/ADAS updates and that adaptive cruise / lane assist operate cleanly
- Unusual drivetrain noises from the e-axle under acceleration or when coasting
- Tyre wear and suspension knocks from Irish road use (rear space-saver tyres often fitted)
