Is this car right for me?

Could suit you if…

  • Your usual group fits within 5 seats, including the driver. Check passenger space and any child-seat fit in person.
  • You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.

Think twice if…

  • You need to carry more than 5 people together: the advert records 5 seats, including the driver.
  • You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.

This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.

Good to know

This is the 48V mild‑hybrid 1.0-litre EcoBoost variant with a manual gearbox — the hybrid system assists start/stop and torque fill but does not plug in. The Puma’s underfloor ‘MegaBox’ gives useful extra boot space; overall it’s mechanically close to the Fiesta so parts are common and easy to source. On a six-year-old car, check that the mild-hybrid electrics and start/stop behave normally and that routine oil changes have been kept up for the small turbo unit.

Common things to check
  • 48V mild-hybrid battery & start/stop: confirm recuperation works, no warning lights and no limp modes
  • Clutch engagement and pedal feel for slipping or a high bite point (manual gearbox)
  • Smoothness of gear changes and any crunching/whine that could indicate synchro wear
  • Engine oil level and signs of leaks or past low-oil running (important on 1.0 EcoBoost turbo)
  • Boot MegaBox drain plug and surrounding area for water ingress, rust or damage
