Spanner can help turn your car details into an advert.
Could suit you if…
- Your usual group fits within 5 seats, including the driver. Check passenger space and any child-seat fit in person.
- You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.
Think twice if…
- You need to carry more than 5 people together: the advert records 5 seats, including the driver.
- You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
This is Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol with a 48V mild-hybrid system paired to a manual gearbox — the mild hybrid helps stop/start behaviour and low-speed efficiency but it is not a plug-in and won’t run on electric power alone. Manual versions are simpler than dual-clutch automatics but check clutch history; mild-hybrid components are generally low-maintenance compared with high-voltage hybrids, though software updates and occasional dealer checks are useful. The Puma's clever underfloor 'MegaBox' gives extra, easy-to-clean boot space compared with rivals.
- Run a dealer or specialist scan for hybrid-system fault codes and request a state-of-health readout for the 48V system.
- Check clutch bite point and test for slipping under acceleration — manual clutch wear is common on 5-year-old urban cars.
- Check for oil leaks or loose hose/clamps around the turbo/intercooler joints and listen for abnormal turbo noises on boost.
- Inspect the MegaBox underfloor area for water pooling, damaged drain plugs or seal issues and ensure the boot seals and tailgate struts work correctly.
- Confirm scheduled service history and that any Ford software/ECU updates for the EcoBoost/mild-hybrid system have been applied.
