Spanner can help turn your car details into an advert.
Could suit you if…
- Many journeys are local or relatively short: petrol can fit that use without choosing diesel just for occasional long trips.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You need certainty about this particular car: type-level advice cannot confirm its condition. Ask for service records, an insurance quote and an independent inspection.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The 2023 Kona petrol with a manual gearbox is typically offered with small-displacement turbo or naturally aspirated petrol engines — they’re straightforward to run but can feel peppy compared with older economy petrols. As a 3‑year‑old car it may still have remaining manufacturer warranty; check the VIN for any open recalls or software updates. Manual transmission means simpler servicing than most dual-clutch autos, but expect clutch wear to be the main driveline maintenance item over time.
- Clutch feel and engagement — test for slipping on a hill and check pedal free play
- Drive under load for turbo lag/noise and look for blue/grey smoke on hard acceleration
- Check engine oil level and for leaks around the turbo/intercooler hoses
- Confirm rear ISOFIX anchors, rear seat comfort and boot space meet your family needs
- Ask dealer to confirm VIN has had any recalls/software updates completed
