Could suit you if…
- You have convenient, regular charging at home, work or nearby: an electric car could fit your day-to-day routine.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You often travel far with little time to stop: check the battery's condition, realistic winter range and charging speed for this exact version.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The Kona Electric is an EV with a single-speed drive (no conventional gearbox) and is sold with different battery-range options — the exact battery fitted greatly affects real range and charging speed. Hyundai typically backs batteries with an 8-year warranty in Europe, and software updates/charging history are useful to verify; regenerative braking reduces wear on pads but check 12V battery health as that can fail earlier than the high-voltage pack.
- Battery state-of-health report (available capacity %) and any DC fast-charge logs or irregular charging events.
- Condition of charging equipment and CCS/Type 2 inlet (pins, seals, corrosion) plus presence of the appropriate cables.
- 12V battery condition and any recent replacements (common failure point on EVs).
- Tyre condition and evidence of abuse from frequent rapid charging or high-speed use; check for interior/trim wear and any signs of crash repair.
