Could suit you if…
- You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The 2025 Kona Hybrid is Hyundai's small petrol‑electric crossover: you get a self‑charging hybrid system so there’s no plug‑in requirement and an automatic gearbox tuned for smooth city driving. Hyundai commonly uses a 1.6 petrol hybrid package in this car with a multi‑speed automatic/DCT and an 8‑year/160,000 km battery warranty in many European markets — check the paperwork and any software/firmware updates that have been applied.
- Hybrid battery state‑of‑health report from dealer (look for capacity loss or warranty coverage)
- Automatic gearbox/DCT service history and any software updates; check for hesitation or unusual shift clunking
- Brake feel and regenerative braking behaviour (look for uneven bite or judder which can indicate wear or software calibration issues)
- Tyre condition and front‑end alignment (city use often wears fronts faster); check for scuffs on kerb edges
- Infotainment, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and safety tech (lane assist, adaptive cruise) are working and updated
