Could suit you if…
- You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The 2025 Kona Hybrid is a self‑charging petrol hybrid (not a plug‑in) paired with an automatic transmission, so you won’t need an external charger. Hyundai hybrids commonly use a small battery and an automatic/DCT gearbox — check for any manufacturer software updates and note that hybrid batteries are usually covered by a separate warranty in the early years. As this example is essentially new, confirm the vehicle was prepared to dealer delivery standard and that any first‑service or software updates have been completed.
- Hybrid battery state‑of‑health report and confirmation of manufacturer battery warranty
- Automatic/DCT gearbox behaviour at low speeds and record of any gearbox software/firmware updates
- Presence of any factory software updates for hybrid control or ADAS and that lane‑assist/adaptive cruise are calibrated
- Braking/regenerative braking feel and wear on front pads (regenerative systems change pad wear patterns)
- Tyre condition, spare/repair kit and correct wheel alignment after dealer handover
