Could suit you if…
- You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
This is the self‑charging (non‑plug‑in) Kona Hybrid with an automatic transmission and regenerative braking — the petrol engine and electric motor combine for improved urban economy without a charge socket. Hyundai covers hybrid components under an extended warranty in most markets, but check the exact battery warranty and what starts that warranty (delivery date vs registration). Also confirm the dealer has applied any factory software/ADAS updates and that the transmission service schedule is clear, since automatic hybrid drivetrains have specific fluid/service intervals.
- Confirm it's the non‑plug‑in hybrid (no external charging port) and check dealer paperwork matches.
- Ask for the hybrid battery warranty certificate and start date (coverage length and terms).
- Test drive to check smoothness of automatic shifts and the feel of regenerative braking under different modes.
- Verify ADAS and infotainment software are up to date and features (adaptive cruise, lane assist) operate correctly.
- Check the boot floor for battery intrusion and confirm spare tyre/repair kit and usual usable boot space.
