Spanner can help turn your car details into an advert.
Could suit you if…
- You need seats for a larger family: this advert records 7 seats. Check that your passengers and child seats actually fit.
- You can plug in regularly and many journeys are short: a plug-in hybrid could suit that routine. Check this version's electric range.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need every seat and lots of luggage space: check the boot with all rows in use, third-row legroom and child-seat access.
- You cannot charge regularly: do not assume you will achieve a plug-in hybrid's advertised fuel savings.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The Sorento PHEV pairs a turbo petrol engine with an electric motor and a relatively small high-voltage battery (around 13–14 kWh), so you can expect real-world EV range in the order of roughly 30–50 km depending on driving and heating. The third row is useful for children but tight for adults and it reduces boot space when in use; towing and heavy loads will cut electric range sharply. Check the charger/lead and hybrid-system service records before buying, and plan for home charging to get the best running-cost benefit.
- Hybrid battery state-of-health report (capacity % and any cell imbalance warnings).
- Charging cable(s) and charging-port operation; confirm on-board charger actually accepts charge at expected rate.
- Automatic gearbox / hybrid drive smoothness under load and at low speeds; no hesitation, judder or persistent fault lights.
- Third-row seat mechanisms, latches and upholstery condition and boot space with seats stowed.
