Could suit you if…
- You have convenient, regular charging at home, work or nearby: an electric car could fit your day-to-day routine.
- You want practical access for everyday shopping and bags: the hatchback opening may suit your routine. Check actual boot space.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You often travel far with little time to stop: check the battery's condition, realistic winter range and charging speed for this exact version.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The 2020 Leaf is a compact five-door electric hatch offered with different battery sizes (commonly a ~40 kWh pack and the larger 'e+' option). Nissan uses CHAdeMO for rapid DC charging on this model, so check local rapid charger compatibility; also expect lower routine servicing needs but keep an eye on 12V battery condition. Get a battery State-of-Health readout — range and degradation vary with how the car was charged and used.
- Battery State-of-Health (SoH) report showing usable capacity and typical range, plus any history of battery replacement or warranty work
- Charging hardware and ports: inspect the Type 2 AC inlet and the CHAdeMO DC port for corrosion/damage and confirm which charging cables (Type 2 / CHAdeMO) are supplied
- 12V auxiliary battery condition and evidence of recent replacement (common failure point on older EVs)
- Climate system performance (heater/AC) and rapid range loss in cold weather—test heat and a short higher-speed run to check real-world range
- Regenerative braking feel and braking components (unusual noises, brake pedal feel) and tyre/suspension wear for uneven wear
