Could suit you if…
- Many journeys are local or relatively short: petrol can fit that use without choosing diesel just for occasional long trips.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You need certainty about this particular car: type-level advice cannot confirm its condition. Ask for service records, an insurance quote and an independent inspection.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
The common petrol/manual Qashqais from 2019–2020 typically use small turbo petrol engines that are economical in steady driving but will use more fuel under hard acceleration. Manual models are generally simpler and cheaper to run than the CVT/automatic ones, and there are no diesel DPF/AdBlue issues to worry about; however, repairs to camera/parking sensor modules and ADAS equipment can be costly if damaged. At six years old check for normal wear items (clutch, brakes, suspension bushes) and whether any manufacturer software updates or recall work have been completed.
- Clutch bite point and slipping: test under load and listen for chatter or dragging when changing gears.
- Turbo health: on acceleration check for excessive smoke, whistling noises or oil leaks around the turbo/intercooler pipes.
- Suspension and steering: drive over bumps to detect knocks, worn bushes or play in the steering rack.
- Infotainment, reversing camera and parking sensors: confirm Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and camera/ADAS sensors work correctly.
- Tyre condition and wheel-arch/underbody corrosion: check tyre age/patterns and inspect wheel arches and underside for stone-chip corrosion.
