The 2016 Prius is the fourth-generation Toyota hybrid with the 1.8-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (non-plug-in) paired to a CVT-style transaxle. There is no plug socket — the petrol engine and electric motor manage charging on the move, so the high-voltage battery's condition is the key long-term item to check.
