This is Toyota's self‑charging hybrid (eCVT) pairing a petrol engine with an electric motor; it feels different to a conventional automatic — smoother at low speeds but with a CVT-like behaviour under load. Toyota hybrids from this generation are generally reliable and parts are widely available in Ireland, but if the vehicle is out of the original warranty ask for a hybrid battery health readout and evidence of any software/recall work.
