Could suit you if…
- You want to compare a hybrid for everyday mixed driving: confirm the exact hybrid system and its real-world fuel use.
- You want practical access for everyday shopping and bags: the hatchback opening may suit your routine. Check actual boot space.
- You would prefer less gear changing in traffic: the recorded automatic transmission may suit. Try how this exact gearbox behaves on a test drive.
Think twice if…
- You need room for several children or extra passengers: the seat count is not recorded. Confirm this exact version's seats and child-seat fit; do not assume from the model name.
- You are relying on low fuel bills or electric-only driving: mild, full and plug-in hybrids work differently. Confirm which system this version has.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
This is the self-charging Toyota hybrid with an eCVT automatic (the post-2020 Yaris platform). The hybrid battery sits under the rear seats so boot capacity is a bit reduced. Ask about remaining manufacturer hybrid warranty, any hybrid-system software updates, and whether the inverter-cooler and related hybrid services have been carried out.
- Hybrid battery state-of-health — request a diagnostic/load test and check the dash for any hybrid-system warning history.
- eCVT behaviour on a test drive — listen for rubber-band revving, hesitation under acceleration and smooth transitions at low speeds.
- Evidence that inverter-cooler cleaning/servicing and hybrid-system software updates were done (ask dealer for confirmation).
- Rear seat/boot condition where the battery sits (trim damage, smells, or water ingress) and overall tyre wear and suspension knock on town roads.
