Spanner can help turn your car details into an advert.
Could suit you if…
- Your usual group fits within 5 seats, including the driver. Check passenger space and any child-seat fit in person.
- Many journeys are local or relatively short: petrol can fit that use without choosing diesel just for occasional long trips.
- You prefer a higher seating position: this SUV/crossover type may suit. Try getting in and out; the body shape alone does not prove extra seats or four-wheel drive.
Think twice if…
- You need to carry more than 5 people together: the advert records 5 seats, including the driver.
- You need certainty about this particular car: type-level advice cannot confirm its condition. Ask for service records, an insurance quote and an independent inspection.
This is general guidance about this type of car and your needs — not an inspection or approval of this individual car.
Most 2021 petrol Tiguans are fitted with VW’s 1.5 TSI and a 6‑speed manual — a tidy, efficient petrol option for mixed driving. Manual petrol models are usually front‑wheel drive (4Motion AWD is uncommon with a manual), there’s no diesel DPF or AdBlue to worry about, and typical service intervals are manufacturer‑recommended schedules (check receipts).
- Clutch operation and biting point: check for slipping, judder or a late engagement which indicates wear.
- Listen on cold start for a persistent ticking/rattle from the 1.5 TSI cylinder‑deactivation system (reported occasionally).
- Confirm drive layout (FWD vs 4Motion) — if AWD is fitted ask for differential/transfer case service history.
- Inspect suspension bushes and tyre wear for knocks or uneven wear from Irish roads and kerbing.
- Verify parking sensors, reversing camera and infotainment/CarPlay work correctly (repairs on higher spec units can be costly).
